The extraordinarily accurate diaries of an ordinary young soldier.
From a set of seven diaries loaned by descendants of WWI soldier Herbert Turner, a team of researchers at Museum of Perth compiled Bert's meticulously chronicled daily life.
From Fremantle with the 11th Battalion in 1916 to France with the 51st in 1916, and the 4th Division Signals company in 1918. Bert witnessed the taking of Leane's Trench at Gallipoli, and the Battle of Messines and the Somme on the Western front, while snatching sleep despite biting louse and 'iron rations'
